In Los Angeles, trucks full of electronics are being hijacked by drivers in souped-up cars. Cop Brian O'Conner goes undercover in the street racing scene and gets close to Dominic Toretto, the king of the street, and his sister Mia. Brian suspects rival Johnny Tran, but that lead goes nowhere, and everything points to Dom's crew. On the last heist, the job goes wrong and Vince is badly hurt. To save him, Brian reveals he's a cop. Tran attacks the Toretto house and ends up dead. Dom and Brian run one last quarter mile, and Dom wrecks the Charger. Brian hands him the keys to the Supra and lets him go. Left open: Brian has thrown away his career, and Dom is on the run.

Hidden details
Behind the scenesIt all started with a magazine story
The film grew out of "Racer X," Ken Li's 1998 Vibe magazine article about illegal street racing in New York. "Racer X" was one of the titles on the table, along with Redline and Street Wars.
The name comes from The Fast and the Furious, a 1950s Roger Corman B movie. Producer Neal H. Moritz got the rights to the title by trading Corman some stock footage.
No spoilersThe easter eggs give away parts of the title. They open once you mark it as seen.
