Winston

The manager of the New York Continental

Winston runs the New York Continental, the hotel where assassins stay, gear up and get patched up, as long as they don't do business on the grounds. Polished and calculating, he has known John Wick for decades and is one of the few people John trusts, though Winston always puts the rules and the hotel first.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick

Young Winston

In the 1970s, Winston Scott is a smooth operator in London, far from his New York past. Cormac O'Connor, manager of the Continental and the man who raised Winston and his brother Frankie as boys, drags him back to the city. Frankie has stolen a High Table coin press from the hotel, and Cormac wants Winston to find him.

Winston tracks Frankie down, but his brother dies. Set on bringing Cormac down, he puts together a crew: siblings Lou and Miles, Frankie's widow Yen and Detective KD. With a young Charon switching sides, they storm the Continental. Cormac dies and Winston takes over the hotel. When the Adjudicator comes to congratulate him, he kills her right outside the Continental.

Neutral ground

Decades later, Winston welcomes John Wick back to the Continental after the Tarasovs' attack. He asks whether his friend is back for good and tells him where Iosef tends to be.

When Ms. Perkins attacks John inside the hotel, Winston doesn't let it slide: he strips her of her Continental privileges and has her executed. He's also the one who tips John off that Viggo is fleeing by helicopter.

One hour

When Santino D'Antonio calls in John's marker, Winston makes it clear that refusing isn't an option: break a marker and you die. After John does the job and Santino puts a contract on him, Winston tries to hold his friend back.

He can't. John kills Santino in the Continental's lounge, and Winston, bound by the rules, declares him excommunicado. Before announcing it, he gives John an hour's head start.

The shot on the roof

An Adjudicator from the High Table arrives at the Continental and gives Winston seven days to step down for helping John. When John comes back with orders to kill him, Winston talks him into standing with him instead. The hotel loses its protected status, and Winston, Charon and John fight off the High Table's soldiers.

During a parley, Winston agrees to serve the High Table again to keep the hotel. To prove it, he shoots John, who falls off the roof. The body disappears before anyone can confirm the kill.

Ballerina

Eve Macarro

Years earlier, when Eve Macarro's father is killed protecting his daughter, it's Winston who brings the girl to the Ruska Roma to be raised by the Director. Grown up and trained as a ballerina and assassin, Eve comes back to him when she decides to go after her father's killers, and Winston feeds her information.

The duel's second

After John kills the Elder, the Marquis Vincent de Gramont removes Winston from his post, declares him excommunicado, demolishes the New York Continental and kills Charon. Winston meets John at Charon's grave and suggests an old way out: challenge the Marquis to a duel.

Winston acts as John's second and negotiates the terms. If John wins, he goes free and Winston gets to run a rebuilt Continental; if he loses, they both die. At the duel, Winston points out to the Marquis that John never fired his last bullet. He gets the hotel back and later visits, with the Bowery King, a grave bearing John's name.
