Spider-Man

Peter Parker, the hero from Queens the world forgot

Peter Parker is a teenager from Queens who got spider powers and fights crime in his neighborhood in a homemade suit. Tony Stark discovers the kid and brings him into the first big fight between Avengers in Captain America: Civil War.

Captain America: Civil War

The kid from Queens

When the MCU introduces Peter Parker, he's 15, lives with Aunt May in an apartment in Queens, and has been using his powers for a few months. The suit is improvised, the goggles are safety goggles, and the webs come from a web-shooter he built himself. His videos online catch the attention of Tony Stark, who shows up in Aunt May's living room offering a phony scholarship.

In reality, Tony needs backup against Steve Rogers's team. Peter gets a new suit, flies to Germany, and, in the airport battle, snatches the shield out of Captain America's hands. He goes home thrilled, with the suit as a gift and a promise that someone from Stark would be in touch.

Wanting to be an Avenger

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter spends months waiting for a new mission and sends daily reports to Happy Hogan, who never answers. Meanwhile, he uncovers a crew selling weapons made from alien scrap from the Battle of New York. The boss is Adrian Toomes, the Vulture.

His eagerness to prove himself backfires. On the Staten Island Ferry, the fight nearly splits the boat in half and Tony takes the suit back. Peter then finds out that Toomes is the father of Liz, the girl he was taking to the dance. Even in his homemade suit, he takes on the Vulture, gets pinned under rubble, lifts himself out alone, and even saves the villain's life when the plane crashes at Coney Island.

In the end, he turns down the invitation to officially join the Avengers. He'd rather stay the friendly neighborhood hero. In the last scene, Aunt May sees him in the suit.

To Titan, and to dust

When Ebony Maw's ship abducts Doctor Strange in New York, Peter clings to the hull and ends up in space. Tony, against his better judgment, activates the Iron Spider armor on him. On Titan, the two of them and Strange team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy and nearly pull the gauntlet off Thanos.

The plan fails. After the snap, Peter feels his body falling apart, apologizes, and turns to dust in Tony's arms.

The return and the loss

Five years later, Peter comes back along with half the universe and arrives on the battlefield through Strange's portals. He reunites with Tony in the middle of the fight and tries to carry the gauntlet away from Thanos. Soon after, he watches his mentor die using the stones to wipe out the enemy army. Peter is at the funeral, next to Aunt May.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Far from home

In Spider-Man: Far From Home, all Peter wants is a school trip around Europe and a shot with MJ. Nick Fury forces him to work alongside Quentin Beck, Mysterio, who claims to come from another Earth. Peter trusts him and hands over the EDITH glasses, Tony's legacy, which control an arsenal of drones.

Beck is a former Stark employee who creates illusions with technology. Peter takes on the hoax in Berlin and London, wins, and starts dating MJ. But Beck leaves behind an edited video. J. Jonah Jameson airs it in New York, blames Spider-Man for Mysterio's death, and reveals Peter Parker's name to the whole world.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Nobody remembers Peter Parker

Spider-Man: No Way Home opens with Peter exposed and hounded. When he, MJ, and Ned are rejected by MIT because of the controversy, Peter asks Doctor Strange for a spell to make everyone forget his identity. He interrupts the ritual several times, and the spell cracks open the multiverse. Villains from other realities arrive: Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, and the Lizard.

Peter decides to cure them instead of sending them back to their deaths. Aunt May backs the idea and pays dearly: the Green Goblin kills her. Before she dies, she tells Peter that with great power comes great responsibility.

Ned opens portals and brings in two other Peter Parkers: Tobey Maguire's, older and calmer, and Andrew Garfield's, who still carries the guilt over Gwen Stacy's death. The three swap experiences and cure the villains at the Statue of Liberty. When MJ falls, Garfield's Peter manages to save her, something he couldn't do for Gwen. Maguire's Peter holds back Holland's Peter when he tries to kill the Goblin for revenge.

To close the multiverse, Peter asks Strange to make the whole world forget who he is, including MJ and Ned. He visits them afterward, but decides not to reintroduce himself. He ends up alone, in a small apartment, sewing a new suit.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Brand New Day

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (released July 31, 2026) takes place four years after the spell. Peter lives anonymously and keeps protecting New York, taking on street criminals. At the same time, his body is changing: his powers are evolving, his senses are getting sharper, and he starts producing organic webbing. He doesn't have much control over any of it.

Looking for help, he seeks out Bruce Banner, who teaches at a university and uses an inhibitor device to keep the Hulk quiet. Peter builds his own inhibitor. The bigger problem is Jean Grey, a teenage telepath searching for her sister, Sara, who was taken by the Department of Damage Control. When she learns her sister died in the experiments, Jean unleashes a psychic power that paralyzes part of the city. She even forces Banner to remove his inhibitor, and Peter has to face the most savage Hulk in years. He only manages to stop him by saying his own name.

At the climax, Peter removes his inhibitor and accepts what he's becoming. The Punisher, Frank Castle, shoots at Jean, and Peter steps in front of the bullet. Wounded, he survives because Jean keeps him alive with her powers, and he wakes up in a hospital. The film ends with Peter determined to stop living in isolation: at a deli, he introduces himself to Ned again, who answers with their old secret handshake.

In comics and books

Peter Parker debuted in Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. In the comics, Uncle Ben's death is the hero's starting point. The name Brand New Day comes from a 2008 run that rebooted Peter's life after a deal that erased his marriage to Mary Jane.
