Quick recap

With his identity exposed by Mysterio, Peter Parker becomes a public target, and he, MJ and Ned get rejected by MIT. Peter asks Doctor Strange for a spell to make everyone forget he is Spider-Man, but he messes up the ritual and cracks open the multiverse. Villains from other universes arrive: Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman and the Lizard. Peter decides to cure them instead of sending them back to die. Green Goblin kills Aunt May, who first tells him that with great power comes great responsibility. Ned and MJ bring in two other Peter Parkers, and the three cure the villains. To seal the multiverse, Peter has Strange make the whole world forget who he is. He ends up alone, in a new homemade suit.

5 easter eggs

Hidden details

  1. ReferenceDum-E at Happy's apartment

When Peter hides out at Happy's place, Tony Stark's clumsy robot is there. It knocks over the LEGO Death Star, a nod to Peter and Ned's scene in Homecoming.

  2. ReferenceThe power of the sun, again

Doctor Octopus repeats his Spider-Man 2 line about holding the power of the sun in the palm of his hand. This time he's talking about Stark's reactor tech, not his own fusion.

  3. ReferenceThree Spideys pointing

When the three Peters meet and point at each other, the scene recreates the meme that came from the 1960s Spider-Man cartoon.

  4. ReferenceTobey's bad back

Tobey Maguire's Peter complains about his back. It's a nod to the fall he took in Spider-Man 2 when his powers failed.

  5. ReferenceGarfield saves the one he couldn't

In the Statue of Liberty battle, MJ falls and it's Andrew Garfield's Peter who catches her in midair. The scene mirrors Gwen Stacy's death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and the actor's face shows the weight of the moment.
