Quick recap

In 2293, the explosion of the moon Praxis pushes the Klingon Empire to the brink, and Chancellor Gorkon offers peace. Kirk, who never forgave his son's death, is ordered to escort him. The Enterprise appears to fire on Gorkon's ship, and two assassins kill the chancellor. Kirk and McCoy are sentenced to life on the frozen planet Rura Penthe and escape with Spock's help. The investigation uncovers a conspiracy of Klingons, Romulans and Starfleet officers against peace, with Spock's protégé, the Vulcan Valeris, among them. At the Khitomer conference, the Enterprise and Sulu's Excelsior destroy General Chang's cloaked Bird-of-Prey. Ordered home to be decommissioned, Kirk and the crew take one last trip.
