Quick recap

The film opens in 2293 at the launch of the Enterprise-B. During a rescue, an energy ribbon hits the ship and Kirk vanishes. Among the rescued is El-Aurian scientist Soran. In 2371, Picard is grieving his brother and nephew. Soran, who lost his family to the Borg, wants to get back into that ribbon, the Nexus, a place where every wish comes true. To do it he's destroying stars, and the next one will kill millions in the Veridian system. Allied with Klingon sisters Lursa and B'Etor, he brings down the Enterprise-D, which crashes on Veridian III. Inside the Nexus, Picard finds Kirk and talks him into coming back. Together they stop Soran, but Kirk dies when a bridge collapses. Picard buries him on the planet.
