Quick recap

In the Greenfield mansion, young Molly Hale loses her father, Professor Hale, who vanishes while studying the Unown. The Unown answer her wishes and cover the town in crystal, building a fantasy world and an Entei that pretends to be her dad. Molly wants a mom too, so Entei kidnaps Delia, Ash's mother, and hypnotizes her. Ash, Misty and Brock storm the mansion, with Charizard's help, and face Pokémon conjured by the girl's imagination. When Molly accepts that she needs her real family, Entei shields everyone and fades away, the crystal disappears and Greenfield goes back to normal.

Hidden details

  1. Behind the scenesThe dinosaur that got cut

Takeshi Shudō's first draft was about a dinosaur fossil running loose across Kanto. The producers found it too risky and asked for another story. It was the last Pokémon movie he wrote.

  2. Behind the scenesThe scene moved out of the credits

In Japan, Professor Spencer Hale's return plays during the credits. The US version moved the scene into the film itself so audiences wouldn't walk out early.

  3. Behind the scenesEntei's telepathy is dub-only

In the English dub, Entei speaks with an echo, like telepathy, and gets extra lines tying it to Molly's father. In the Japanese original, its voice is normal.
