Quick recap

In 1991, a plague has killed off dogs and cats, and apes went from pets to slaves. Cornelius and Zira's son, now called Caesar, was raised in secret by Armando. In the city, Caesar shouts at the beating of a gorilla, and Armando takes the blame. Caesar hides among the apes, is brutally trained and sold to Governor Breck. MacDonald, Breck's aide, sympathizes with him. Under interrogation by Inspector Kolp, Armando dies. Caesar starts organizing the apes and gathering weapons. Breck finds out who he is and orders his execution, but MacDonald helps him escape. Caesar leads a revolt, the city burns and the apes take the command center. In the theatrical cut, he spares Breck and declares the birth of the planet of the apes.
