Quick recap

Harry Potter, an orphan raised by the Dursleys, learns from Hagrid at age 11 that he's a wizard and famous: he survived Voldemort's attack, which killed his parents. At Hogwarts he's sorted into Gryffindor and befriends Ron and Hermione. The trio learns that a three-headed dog guards the Sorcerer's Stone, which grants eternal life, and suspects Severus Snape wants to steal it. They get through the traps. In the end, Harry faces Professor Quirrell, who carries Voldemort on the back of his head. The Mirror of Erised hands Harry the stone, and his touch burns Quirrell. The stone is destroyed and Gryffindor wins the House Cup. Left open: Voldemort escaped and still wants to come back.
