Fifteen-year-old Bree Tanner was turned three months ago and lives in an army of newborns in Seattle, led by Riley, who answers to a creator nobody sees. She befriends Diego, and together they find out the sun doesn't kill vampires, as Riley claimed. Diego vanishes, and Bree realizes she's been lied to. She also gets close to Fred, a vampire who can push others away with his gift. When Riley sends the army against the Cullens, Fred runs and Bree fights. On the battlefield, she surrenders to Carlisle. The Volturi arrive, hear what she knows and decide she can't be allowed to live, and kill her.

Behind the scenesIt was meant for the guide
Meyer started Bree's story while editing Eclipse, with the official guide in mind. It kept growing and became its own book.
From June 7 to July 5, 2010, the whole book was free to read on the official site. And every copy sold sent $1 to the American Red Cross for earthquake relief in Haiti and Chile.
The book covers the same days as Eclipse, but from inside the newborn army. A lot of what Bella only hears about happens right in front of the reader here.
No spoilersThe easter eggs give away parts of the title. They open once you mark it as seen.
