Quick recap

The second part is narrated by Jacob, who breaks from the pack to protect Bella. During the birth, Edward injects his venom and Bella becomes a vampire; Jacob imprints on the baby, Renesmee. When Irina sees the girl, she reports her to the Volturi as an immortal child, a serious crime among vampires. The Cullens gather witnesses from around the world, and Bella learns she can shield everyone with her mind. At the standoff, Alice brings Nahuel, another half-vampire, and proves Renesmee is no threat. The Volturi back down, and Bella and Edward have their forever.

4 what changed in the movie

What changed in the movie

  1. ChangeOne book, two movies

Summit confirmed in June 2010 that Breaking Dawn would be split into two movies. Stephenie Meyer herself had suggested it because the book is so long.

  2. ChangeThe birth through Bella's eyes

The birth, described in detail in the book, is shown in the movie the way Bella sees it, through pain and haze. That's how the film kept its PG-13 rating.

  3. ChangeA digital Renesmee

In the book, Renesmee grows too fast and is aware from birth. In the movie, Mackenzie Foy's face was digitally placed on other actresses at each stage, and the baby became a visual effect.

  4. ChangeThe battle that never happens

In the book, the final standoff with the Volturi is settled with words, not a fight. Part 2 shows a huge battle that turns out to be one of Alice's visions.
