Quick recap

After Cianwood, Ash beats Jasmine and Mahogany's Ice-type leader, and passes through the Lake of Rage, where Team Rocket is forcing Pokémon to evolve and a red Gyarados appears. Misty competes in the Whirl Cup, and Ash wins his last badge from Clair, Blackthorn's Dragon-type leader. At the Silver Conference, Ash finally beats Gary in a full battle, with Charizard back on the team. In the quarterfinals he loses to Harrison and finishes in the top eight. In the end, Misty and Brock go their separate ways, and Ash heads home to Pallet Town and sets off for a new region with just Pikachu.

  1. Behind the scenesThe episode that was never dubbed

    "The Ice Cave!" was skipped in the English dub because of the controversy around Jynx, who features heavily. That's why the season jumps over an episode.

    At the Silver Conference, Ash defeats Gary in a full battle. It's the symbolic end of the rivalry that began in Pallet Town in episode one.

    Harrison, from Littleroot Town, knocks Ash out with a Blaziken, a third-generation Pokémon not yet in the games. He tells Ash about Professor Birch and a region full of new Pokémon. This comes back later.
