Quick recap

Will and Elizabeth's wedding is broken up by Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company, who arrests them for helping Jack. Beckett wants Jack's compass to find the chest holding the heart of Davy Jones, captain of the Flying Dutchman: whoever holds the heart controls Jones. Jack owes Jones his soul and is hunted by the Kraken. Will finds his father, Bootstrap Bill, bound to Jones' crew. On Isla Cruces, Jack, Will and Norrington fight over the chest, and Norrington slips away with the heart. The Kraken attacks the Pearl, and Elizabeth chains Jack to the mast to save everyone else. Jack is dragged under. At Tia Dalma's shack, the group decides to bring him back, and their guide turns out to be Barbossa, alive again.

With no real-life reference for the Kraken, animation director Hal Hickel had his team watch King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962). On set, two pipes holding 30,000 pounds of cement crashed down and split the ship for real.
