Leia Organa

Leia is born minutes after her brother, Luke, children of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker. With their mother dead and their father turned into Darth Vader, the twins are separated. Senator Bail Organa and his wife adopt the girl and raise her on Alderaan as a princess.

At ten, Leia is already stubborn and way too smart for the royal court. Bounty hunters kidnap her to lure Obi-Wan Kenobi out of hiding, and Bail asks his old friend for help. On this adventure she gets to know Obi-Wan up close, without knowing who her parents are.

Still a teenager, Leia uses humanitarian missions as a cover. On Lothal, she poses as an aristocrat loyal to the Empire while helping the rebel cell Phoenix get ships.

At the Battle of Scarif, the Death Star plans pass from hand to hand until they reach Leia's ship, the Tantive IV, which barely escapes Vader. To her, that is hope.

Leia hides the plans in R2-D2 and records a plea for help to Obi-Wan before she's captured. On the Death Star, she withstands Vader's interrogation and watches Governor Tarkin destroy Alderaan, her home, to pressure her.

The rescue arrives with Luke, Han and Chewbacca, and she's the one who takes charge of the escape, blasting a hole in the wall so everyone can get out through the garbage chute. On Yavin, she hands out the medals to the heroes of the battle.

Fleeing Hoth, Leia ends up stuck on the Millennium Falcon with Han, and the bickering turns into romance. In Cloud City, Lando hands them over to Vader. Right before Han is frozen in carbonite, she says she loves him, and he answers with the famous 'I know.' On the way out, Leia senses Luke's call and turns the Falcon around to save him.

Disguised as a bounty hunter, Leia breaks into Jabba's palace to free Han. Captured and chained to the throne, she strangles the Hutt with her own chain. On Endor, she befriends the Ewoks and helps bring down the second Death Star's shield.

Before the battle, Luke tells her she's his sister and Vader's daughter. Leia replies that, somehow, she always knew.

Three decades later, Leia commands the Resistance against the First Order. Her marriage to Han fell apart after their son, Ben, fell to the dark side and became Kylo Ren. When they reunite, she asks Han to bring their son back. She feels his death through the Force soon after and then greets Rey with a hug and sends her after Luke.

Kylo Ren hesitates to fire on his mother's ship, but the pilots with him open fire and blow off the bridge. Leia is thrown into space and, using the Force, floats back inside. In a coma, she leaves Vice Admiral Holdo in command. When she wakes up, she stuns Poe with a blaster shot to end his mutiny.

On Crait, Luke appears in front of her, kisses her forehead and says no one's ever really gone. With only a few survivors aboard the Falcon, she says they have everything they need.

Leia starts training Rey at the base on Ajan Kloss. It's revealed that, after Endor, she also trained with Luke and built her own saber, but gave it up when she sensed that following that path would lead to her son's death.

During Rey and Kylo's duel on Kef Bir, Leia spends the last of her strength calling out to Ben through the Force and dies right after. His mother's voice disarms him in the middle of the fight, and soon after he drops the name Kylo Ren. At the end, she and Luke appear as spirits on Tatooine, watching Rey.

In the current canon books and comics, like the novel Bloodline, Leia is a senator of the New Republic, and it's the public revelation that she's Vader's daughter that ends her political career.
