The Penguin

A week after the flood, Oz Cobb kills Alberto Falcone in a fit of rage. He recruits young Victor Aguilar as his driver and plays the Falcone and Maroni families against each other. Alberto's sister, Sofia Falcone, gets out of Arkham, where she spent years locked up as the killer known as The Hangman, and we learn the murders were her father's. She and Oz team up for a while to sell the drug Bliss, then turn on each other. Sofia renames the family Gigante. She kidnaps Oz's mother, Francis. In the end, Francis is left in a vegetative state, Oz kills Victor and takes over Gotham's underworld. Sofia goes back to Arkham and gets a letter from her half sister, Selina Kyle. The Bat-Signal lights up the sky.

   Colin Farrell went back into the heavy makeup from the film, created by Mike Marino. For the series, Marino refined the prosthetics to give Oz's face more expression.

   Sofia Falcone's nickname comes from "Batman: Dark Victory", the sequel to "The Long Halloween", where the comics' Sofia is the killer who hangs cops.

   In the final episode, Sofia gets a letter in Arkham from her half sister, Selina Kyle, and the Bat-Signal lights up the sky. Batman never appears in the series.
