Quick recap

Two years later, Arthur Fleck is in Arkham State Hospital awaiting trial. In a music class, Arthur meets Lee Quinzel, who says she admires him, and they fall in love amid imagined musical numbers. Arthur fires his lawyer, defends himself in Joker makeup, then renounces the persona on the stand. The jury finds him guilty. A bomb goes off outside and scars prosecutor Harvey Dent's face. Arthur escapes but rejects the fans who only want the Joker. Lee finds him on the stairs and leaves him for giving up the persona. Back in Arkham, a young inmate tells Arthur a joke and stabs him. As Arthur dies, the young man carves a smile into his own face.
