CSI Barry Allen is struck by lightning the night the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator explodes. He wakes from a nine-month coma with super speed and starts fighting metahumans created by the same accident, alongside Cisco Ramon, Caitlin Snow and Dr. Harrison Wells. Barry wants to find the man who killed his mother, a crime his father, Henry, is serving time for. The killer is Wells: actually Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, a time traveler stranded in the past. Thawne offers Barry the chance to save his mother, but Barry backs out. Eddie Thawne shoots himself to erase his descendant. A singularity opens over Central City, and Barry runs straight into it.
