Quick recap

On Bella's 18th birthday, a paper cut nearly makes Jasper attack her. Edward decides she isn't safe with them and leaves Forks with his family. Bella sinks into months of depression, until she finds that when she takes risks, she hears Edward's voice. She grows close to Jacob Black, who helps her fix up motorcycles and soon starts to change. When Laurent comes to avenge James, giant wolves kill him: Jacob and other young Quileutes are werewolves. Alice has a vision of Bella jumping off a cliff, and Edward, thinking she's dead, goes to Italy to ask the Volturi to kill him. Bella and Alice reach Volterra in time. The Volturi demand that Bella be turned; back home, the Cullens vote yes, and Edward asks her to marry him.
