Quick recap

Back on Earth, the Enterprise is about to be decommissioned, and McCoy starts acting strangely. Sarek tells Kirk that before he died, Spock passed his katra, his Vulcan essence, to the doctor. Starfleet forbids going back for the body, so Kirk, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura and Chekov steal the Enterprise. On the Genesis planet, Saavik and David find that Spock's body has been reborn as a child and is aging fast. Klingon commander Kruge wants the secret of Genesis and kills David. Kirk self-destructs the Enterprise, beats Kruge on the collapsing planet and escapes in the Klingon ship. On Vulcan, an ancient ritual returns the katra to the body. Spock comes back confused, but he recognizes Kirk.
