Quick recap
In 1988, right after his mother dies, young Peter Quill is taken from Earth by Yondu's Ravagers. As an adult calling himself Star-Lord, he steals an Orb wanted by Ronan the Accuser, a Kree zealot working for Thanos. On Xandar, Quill runs into Gamora, Thanos's adopted daughter, and bounty hunters Rocket and Groot. All four get arrested, meet Drax, who wants revenge on Ronan for killing his family, and break out together. The Collector reveals the Orb holds an Infinity Stone. Ronan takes the Stone for himself and attacks Xandar. Groot sacrifices himself to shield his friends. The five hold the Stone together and destroy Ronan. The Stone goes to the Nova Corps, Quill learns he's only half human, and a cutting from Groot grows into a baby Groot.
