In 1995, Natasha and little Yelena live in Ohio as the daughters of Alexei and Melina, Russian spies posing as a family. After a mission, General Dreykov sends the girls to the Red Room, which trains assassins. In 2016, right after Civil War, Natasha is on the run when Yelena sends her an antidote to the Widows' mind control. She learns the Red Room is still running, even though she thought she had killed Dreykov in Budapest. Chased by Taskmaster, the sisters break Alexei, the Red Guardian, out of prison and find Melina. At Dreykov's airborne base, Natasha discovers Taskmaster is Antonia, his daughter, who survived the attack. Dreykov dies, the Widows are freed and Yelena goes to help the others. Natasha heads off to rescue the jailed Avengers.

5 easter eggs
Hidden details
ReferenceNatasha knows Moonraker by heart
Hiding out in the trailer in Norway, Natasha watches Moonraker and recites the lines along with it. The pick isn't random: in the Bond movie, the villain hides a base in the sky, just like the Red Room.
Since the first Avengers, Natasha and Clint have talked about Budapest without explaining it. Here the city finally shows up, and the safe house has arrow marks on the wall, a souvenir from that mission.
Yelena calls Natasha a poser for her superhero landing, one knee on the ground and hair flying. It's a direct jab at a pose the character repeats in several Avengers movies.
Pay attention to the green vest full of pockets Yelena proudly shows off. At the end, she gives the vest to Natasha, and it comes back later in the franchise.
