Quick recap

Narrated by Éowyn, the story goes back to the days of King Helm of Rohan. Freca, a Dunlending lord, asks for the hand of Helm's daughter Héra for his son Wulf. The argument ends with Helm killing Freca with a single punch. Years later, Wulf returns with an army of mercenaries for revenge, and Helm's sons die. The people retreat to the Hornburg and endure a winter siege. Helm slips out at night and takes on the enemy with his bare fists. Later he stays behind to cover Héra's escape and dies fighting, frozen where he stands. Héra defeats Wulf in a duel. Fréaláf, Helm's nephew, arrives with reinforcements and becomes the new king, the fortress is renamed Helm's Deep, and Héra chooses to travel rather than rule.
