With Tywin dead, Cersei rules for her son Tommen. She lets the Faith take up arms again and turns it against Margaery Tyrell, but the scheme backfires and the High Sparrow has her arrested. Jaime ends the siege of Riverrun. Brienne searches the riverlands for Sansa and ends up captured by the Brotherhood Without Banners, facing Lady Stoneheart. Sansa lives in the Vale disguised as Alayne, Littlefinger's daughter. Arya trains at the House of Black and White in Braavos and goes blind. Sam takes Maester Aemon toward Oldtown; the old man dies on the way. In the Iron Islands, Euron Greyjoy is chosen king. In Dorne, Arianne tries to crown Myrcella and fails, and her father, Doran, reveals he has been plotting revenge for years. Left open: what happened in the North and across the sea.
