Quick recap

In 101 AC, a Great Council picks Viserys as Jaehaerys's heir. Once king, Viserys loses his wife and son in childbirth and names his daughter Rhaenyra heir, something never done before. His brother Daemon becomes a threat, and the Hand, Otto Hightower, steers his daughter Alicent toward the king, who marries her. Alicent has children, among them Aegon and Aemond. Rhaenyra marries Laenor Velaryon, but her three sons are fathered by Harwin Strong. After a ten-year jump, the court splits. Laenor fakes his death and Rhaenyra marries Daemon. Viserys dies, and the Hightowers crown Aegon. It ends with Aemond, riding Vhagar, killing Rhaenyra's son Lucerys in the skies over Storm's End. War is one step away.

Hidden details

  1. SetupThe dagger with the prophecy

In episode 4, Viserys shows Rhaenyra a Valyrian steel dagger that belonged to Aegon the Conqueror. Heated in the fire, it reveals an inscription about the prince that was promised and the song of ice and fire. That dagger comes back later.
