Quick recap

Thirty-five years before Dune, three stories intertwine. Young Leto Atreides is studying on Ix and escapes when the planet falls to the Tleilaxu in a secret plan by Prince Shaddam. He returns to Caladan and becomes duke after his father dies. Shaddam, helped by Fenring, poisons his own father and becomes emperor. Baron Harkonnen tests an invisible ship and schemes against the Atreides, while a boy, Duncan Idaho, escapes Harkonnen slavery. On Arrakis, planetologist Pardot Kynes wins over the Fremen, and the Bene Gesserit push their breeding program forward. In the end, the Baron frames Leto for an attack; Leto stands trial and is acquitted, because Shaddam wants to keep his own secrets.
