Quick recap

In 1974, young Thaddeus Sivana is pulled to the Rock of Eternity and rejected by the Wizard. As an adult he returns, frees the Seven Deadly Sins and gains power. In Philadelphia, 14-year-old Billy Batson is looking for his mother and lands with the Vásquez family and five siblings, including superhero fan Freddy. The dying Wizard picks Billy: when he says "Shazam!", he becomes an adult hero. Billy and Freddy test the powers and go viral, but Billy runs from Sivana. He finds his mother, who had left him on purpose. Sivana kidnaps his siblings, and at the winter carnival Billy shares his powers with them. The Shazam family wins, Billy accepts the Vásquezes as his family, and the Rock becomes their hideout.

Hidden details

  1. ReferenceThe Big floor piano

During the toy store fight, Shazam and Sivana cross a giant floor piano, the kind Tom Hanks plays with his feet in Big (1988), another kid-in-a-grown-up-body movie.

  2. CameoA headless Superman

At the end, Superman shows up in the school cafeteria, but only from the neck down. Henry Cavill wasn't available, so the suit is worn by Ryan Hadley, Zachary Levi's stunt double.

  3. ReferenceThe social worker from Lights Out

Andi Osho plays Billy's social worker, the same role she had in Lights Out, the horror film that launched director David F. Sandberg.
