Hidden details

  1. ReferenceThe TIE from a 1994 game

S2E1: the fighter Cassian steals and can barely fly is a TIE Avenger, a ship created for the 1994 game Star Wars: TIE Fighter. The production built a real cockpit and exterior, using Kylo Ren's TIE Whisper as inspiration.

  2. ReferencePalpatine's chalice

S2E5, "I Have Friends Everywhere": Luthen's gallery has a Sith chalice similar to Palpatine's in Revenge of the Sith. In the same scene there's a Mandalorian helmet based on Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for Boba Fett.

  3. SetupK-2SO started on the other side

S2E8: among the KX droids cracking down on the protest on Ghorman is the future K-2SO. Cassian collects the parts, and in S2E9 the droid is reprogrammed on Yavin to fight at his side.

  4. Behind the scenesThe dream that wasn't scripted

S2E12, "Jedha, Kyber, Erso": Cassian's vision with his sister wasn't written. Editor John Gilroy, Tony's brother, created the scene in post-production.
