Quick recap
In 1995, Vers is an amnesiac Kree warrior trained by Yon-Rogg to fight the Skrulls, shape-shifting aliens. Captured by the Skrull Talos, she escapes and crash-lands in Los Angeles, where she meets a rookie Nick Fury, still with both eyes, and agent Phil Coulson. With Fury and her friend Maria Rambeau, she learns she is Carol Danvers, a pilot presumed dead in 1989. Scientist Wendy Lawson was really Mar-Vell, a Kree helping Skrull refugees, and Yon-Rogg killed her. The Kree lied to Carol. She rips out the implant limiting her power, beats Yon-Rogg and leaves to help the Skrulls. Goose the cat turns out to be a Flerken, swallows the Tesseract and scratches Fury's eye. Carol leaves him a pager.

5 easter eggs
Hidden details
CameoThe Marvel logo became a tribute
Before the movie starts, the Marvel Studios intro swaps the usual heroes for Stan Lee's cameos and ends with "Thank You Stan." He had died a few months before the release.
On the train, Stan Lee is going over his lines for Kevin Smith's Mallrats, a 1995 movie where he had a cameo. It lines up exactly with the year the story takes place.
ReferenceHeadless Schwarzenegger at the video store
Carol crashes from the sky into a Blockbuster and blows the head off a True Lies standee of Schwarzenegger. The store was built in a storefront in North Hollywood, California.
Samuel L. Jackson was de-aged about 25 years with CGI for the entire movie, something Marvel had never done before. Lola, the effects company, pulled it off for the first time without a body double. Clark Gregg got the same treatment.
