Quick recap

At the 10th Hunger Games, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, from a Capitol family that lost its fortune, mentors Lucy Gray Baird, the singer from District 12. To win a prize that would save his family, he cheats, and Lucy Gray wins. When he's caught, he's shipped off to District 12 as a Peacekeeper, where he reunites with Lucy Gray and his friend Sejanus. Sejanus joins the rebels; Coriolanus turns him in, and his friend is hanged. Coriolanus runs away with Lucy Gray, but she figures out what he did and disappears into the woods. He fires blindly, surrounded by mockingjays echoing her song. Back in the Capitol, Dr. Gaul secures his future, and Coriolanus poisons Dean Highbottom. Lucy Gray's fate is left open.

Hidden details

  1. SetupFlowers painted on the dress

Look at the rainbow dress Lucy Gray wears at the reaping and in the arena. The bodice is painted with flowers: katniss and primroses. The names of those two plants will mean a lot in this saga.

  2. SetupA bow in the rubble

When we see the wrecked arena, Coriolanus notices a bow and a quiver of arrows lying in the rubble. Nobody picks them up. Remember that image.

  3. ReferenceLucy Gray, from the poem

The name comes from "Lucy Gray," a 1799 William Wordsworth poem about a girl who vanishes in the snow and is never found. It fits the way the movie ends.

  4. CameoDonald Sutherland's voice

The movie's last line is spoken by Donald Sutherland, the Snow of the earlier films: "It's the things we love most that destroy us." The line is lifted from another film in the saga.
