Quick recap
Paul and Lady Jessica, pregnant with Alia, live with Stilgar's Fremen. Jessica drinks the Water of Life, becomes a Reverend Mother, and spreads the Lisan al Gaib prophecy among the fundamentalist south. Paul rides a sandworm, becomes Muad'Dib, and falls for Chani, who distrusts the prophecy. Baron Harkonnen replaces Rabban with the vicious Feyd-Rautha. After a massacre at the sietch, Paul heads south, drinks the Water of Life, and learns he is the Baron's grandson. He proclaims himself messiah, strikes with worms and atomics, kills the Baron, and beats Feyd-Rautha in a duel. Paul demands Princess Irulan's hand, the Great Houses refuse, and he sends the Fremen into holy war. Chani leaves alone.

Behind the scenesGiedi Prime in infrared
The black-and-white Harkonnen arena wasn't a post-production filter. Greig Fraser shot it with an infrared camera, which makes skin look pale and almost translucent under Giedi Prime's black sun.
Stephen McKinley Henderson, Thufir Hawat in the first film, and Tim Blake Nelson shot scenes that didn't make the final cut. Both only show up under special thanks in the credits.
In the book, Baron Harkonnen dies at the hands of Alia, still a child. Since the film compresses the timeline and Alia is never born, the job goes to Paul.
